Rapid test of the next generation

Rapid test of the next generation

Rapid test of the next generation

We at PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. have developed an optical chip that is set to advance rapid test technology in Berlin, thanks to support from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, together with our partner Biosynex (formerly Chembio).

This test can deliver results within seconds, unlike conventional immunological rapid tests, which require at least 15 minutes. The test uses special protein molecules on the chip that react with the substances in the sample, and light waves, whose frequency changes are measured to determine the result. The measuring device is small and portable, making it attractive for various applications such as medical practices, laboratories, police checks, and food monitoring. The new system promises low costs and the ability to perform multiple tests simultaneously. This innovation could give the Berlin-Brandenburg region, which has established itself as a high-tech location for light technology, a competitive edge.
